Over this semester coarse, Mr. Fielder has taught me many great things that I will actually use in life, unlike some of my other classes.
The first two to my list of five things is the movies we watched and my reactions to them.
1-Rabbit Proof Fence
When I was sitting, watching children being taken away from their families for just what color their skin is was a terrible thing to watch. But watching the little girls escape and find their way back, It was moving and inspiring, it makes me want to do something amazing just like them, and they were years younger than me when they ran away. It’s amazing how they survived out in the desert for how long they did.
2-The Power of One
In my opinion, The Power of One was much better then Rabbit Proof Fence because it was actually a story that was real, but very interesting at the same time. He was around the same age as us, and all of these things kept on happening to him because he was English during the WWII time period and no one at his school wanted anything to do with him. But then later in life he developed a loving care for the ones who were treated without respect at all just because they were African, and he wanted to go next to all odds, to break the law, and teach them what they should have a right to know.
The third thing on my list is going to be the wonderful time I had practicing margin noting.
3-Articles
From beginning to end, every week Matt Fielder found his way around to find our freshman class the most confusing articles to read and attempt to understand. He gave us articles on Iran, Iraq, China, Obama, and many more, and each time he gave us a new one, it was more and more challenging each time. But I guess you could credit that as a good thing, because now whenever I read something online or in the newspaper, I always ask myself questions about it or seem to be making comments that only Mr. Fielder students would understand.
Second to last, all those (not so) short stories we had.
4-Dirk the Protector
There are always those stories about the kids and the bullies and how the victims faced their fears or something like that, and we always seem to swoon and pity an “awh” for the happy ending. But this story was different, it was about a kid who wasn’t a nerd or geek, a normal kid with a buggy big boy who had nothing better to do with his life, but they way he faced his problem was he found a body guard…….well actually……..the body guard found him, a mean street dog. It was a facinating story. Had me thinking a lot, and I enjoyed it.....a lot.
Last thing, Paragraph responces.
5-Ethos and Pathos
I seemed to use pathos more, the emotional one, because I like to make up stories a lot, so I do it well. But I can also get everyones trust very fast also.

Where would I be?

When comparing the United States, Australia, Rwanda, and South Africa I would want to live in the United States.
If I was in America as a native during all of this, then I would just be forced out of my country and my life wouldn’t be in danger. Like for example, in Rwanda people were killing each other. In Australia people that lived got brutally forced off their lands. In South Africa depending on what color you were you were killed or moved. And mostly the people doing all of these terrible things in these different countries around the world were the Europeans.
Also I would want to be in America just in case I wasn’t forced off my land, I would have so much more freedom than any other country that I listed above. I would be able to have a say in government if I wanted to, even if I didn’t, it was still there for my taking as an option. And I have all my options of the kinds of rights; freedom of speech, the freedom of religion, freedom of the press, ect. You get where I’m going with this don’t you? All the laws in America that are only in America because it’s a free country, and it’s the country that everyone who lives in it loves.

Most of my information I recived from my dear friend Dan.

My oh so fat love.

Now most of the people reading this have a pet at home; dogs, cats, fish, or a bird. For the most part normal pets. I have a cat named Louie, he is a little over a year old, and I love him very much. But one thing you should know about my pet cat, is that he eats…… A LOT, way more than a normal cat should. Like I said before he is only a little over a year old, and he weighs almost 30 pounds now. He gains another four five pounds every week. I honestly think it’s getting a little out of control, I mean my family and I have tried to take some food away, or feed him diet food to minimize his consumption of food but whenever his bowl is not filled to the rim, he meows until the cows come home! And believe me it is not easy to ignore when he sits outside your door until you come out, and then when you do, runs in and out of your feet until you fall flat on your face, or trip down the stairs. He is very cute, and cuddly, and adorable, but oh what a pain in the neck he is! My dad gets so mad at him sometimes he throws him out of the house and he can only come back in when he’s gone. It’s upsetting but funny at the same time.
Another major factor about my cat is that he is very very stupid. Like, runs himself into walls stupid, sits in his water bowl stupid, and jumps on the corner of a glass table and makes it tip and shatter all over the floor stupid. My family has free entertainment night and day just watching my cat try and jump onto the couch, but fails because he’s so fat. There are many stories that I could tell you that made me just about pee my pants it was so funny, things that the dumb butt has done and very sweet and not so sweet memories I have with him. One bad thing about him is that he likes to mark his territory if you know what I mean, and it is always in the most public place or on a carpet. And of course I and my little sister are the ones to clean it up. Not my favorite thing in the world to do.

Rwandan Genocide Debate
Sitting forward with a stern look on my face, concentrating on listening to the debate going back and forth between Belgium and every other representative, or Romeo Dellaire to the USA or the UN, trying to catch all the details of who did what and who deserves to die.
My country was France, not a major role in the debate and not normally one that the finger was being pointed at. I was glad I wasn’t a take part in this because I would rather sit back and listen to what the others have to say. If I had to say something to defend myself…. Excuse me…. My country, I did and I did it with full confidence. In my eyes, the cause of this whole genocide is Belgium giving identity cards based on the things you own, creating the whole idea of who was better the Hutus or the Tutsis, and then leaving them when things started to get messy.
I believe that the Tutsis did shoot down Juvenal Habyarimanas plane, and the Hutus had a right to be mad. Yes, I also think they were brainwashed by the radios to kill or be killed, but after Juvenal died, who was encouraging them then?
Now the USA and the UN claim they didn’t do anything because they were scared and didn’t want to be embarrassed by their soldiers, and that’s their reason why they didn’t do anything. But yes I believe that the USA does not have to take part and rescue every world tragedy, but they could have at least put up posters, or made a comment or something to help a small percentage.

The American Scholar; Do we have names?
Emerson’s argument in “The American Scholar” that man would only be known as the job they do and that is still true today.
Emerson’s argument is still true today because it is right in front of our faces. Every morning if you wake up to watch the news and they are talking about a police case, the person giving the story will refer to the men and woman working on the case as “police men”, and they will usually only give the names of some of them if they did something heroic or they are the police chiefs or something like they and they are something meaningful to the case. They only recognize them as police not as people. In “The American Scholar” Emerson says, “In the degenerate state, when the victim of society, he tends to become a mere thinker, or still worse, the parrot of other men’s thinking.” And in my eyes what he means by that is once somebody goes into a certain field of profession, they can only think along the lines of what their job is.
I believe that we should change these thinking’s that is in society, a reason why is that my dad is the vice president of a steel tubing mill in Detroit, but on the side he is a race car driver. If I tell my friends or teachers that my dad is a race car driver, they only see him as a race car driver, not as a nice man or funny or anything, they just say, “Heathers dad is a race car driver.” And I think that shouldn’t just be the case, he should be known for his actual job because he is good at it, and he should be acknowledge for doing a good job.

Have a nice trip, see you next fall!

Orange, yellow, red, and brown. The colors of fall. Oh how I love it! The smell of the new freshly fallen leaves and the cool crisp air dewing the grass every morning, ahhhh can’t get any better than that. I may not be seven anymore, and my parents will not rake the leaves for me and my friends to jump in, but that doesn’t mean I can’t rake the leaves for me and my friends to jump in! I hate raking the leaves, but I love jumping in, it’s a lot of fun. I don’t like getting the leaves down my clothes either, because they are all dead and crumbly and they always seem to break apart in my clothes to make me really itch. I dislike it very much.
One of the main things I don’t like about fall is the insanely cold mornings. I hated mornings even in the summer, but cold mornings, man they really tick me off. I love sleep, and getting up out from under my three covers and sheets and nice comfy pj pants and sweatshirt, does not start me off to a good mood; my house is freezing!I hate the cold, that’s why when I move away I can guarantee it will be to somewhere to like, Florida; nice warm weather. Ahhhh I can feel the sun now soaking on my face.
Warm weather may be nice, but fall has amazing things that is big in my life, like Halloween! I love Halloween, and all the decorations and parties that go along with it. Going all out for Halloween is what I love doing, like my costume, how the outside of my house looks, how the inside of my house looks, even my friends and families costume, I would give them hints and pointers on how they can make their costume even more cuter, funnier, scarier, or just all around better.
But being outside, on a semi-warm afternoon, hanging out with friends around a bon fire in jeans and a sweat shirt, just talking and laughing and having a good ‘ol time, really makes me smile just thinking about it. Especially the roasting marshmallows part. Yummmmmm! I also really love the smell of a bon fire, it makes me think of outside, and enjoying the nice weather while we still have it and before the thick sheets of white frozen rain comes crashing down on my oh so fabulous dreams of clear skies and warm temperatures.

Halloween, Oh how i love the screams(:

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday; the costumes, the late nights with friends, and of course, the candy! Who wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to get some free candy and scare the pajeebers out of your little siblings or princess neighbors? I wouldn’t that’s for sure. My favorite candy probably is payday, or 3 musketeers. Yummy yum yummmm. Payday because I love anything with salt, it’s totally unhealthy but I really don’t give a crap, it’s good so I will eat it! And the 3 musketeers…. I mean come on I haven’t met someone yet who doesn’t like those things! But the most original Halloween candy would have to be the candy corn, the white yellow and orange triangles are addicting like no other, and with no shame I can say that I alone have finished off a good store bought bag of those. Man oh man was that a good lazy day.
This Halloween I am extremely excited because I have a simple yet amazing costume. I am being a kitty cat, my apparel; black t-shirt, black shorts, black tights, ugg boots, eyeliner whiskers, cheapo cat ears…. And cat eyes, yes that’s right. Cat. Eyes. I bought cat eye contacts from online(http://www.amazingeyez.com/CatShaped.html) and I am very pleased with how they turned out. When I wore them to school all my friends and teachers got a kick out of them, I loved seeing everyone’s reactions. I even got a couple screams, one including my Spanish teacher Ms.Wylie. Now to multiple people I am considered cat eyes, or crazy eyes, I find it kind of funny myself.
This Halloween weekend is bound to be a great one, my schedule is jam packed so I have no spare time at all, those kinds of things are very unpleasing to my mom, you know the one that has to drive me all these places. Today, Friday night, I am first going to the varsity game because yes thank god were in the playoffs. At half time I am going back with my friend Maria Riggi and we are going to be getting into our costumes (My kitty cat, and her cute bubble bee.) then heading down the street to our friend Paige’s house for her Halloween bash. Afterwards, going back to Marias for a slumber party! Joy! Early morning waking up to head out with my chica (Maria) for open gym, then her dad is taking us out for lunch because it’s her birthday. After we finish, heading to my place for yet again, ANOTHER PARTY! This one is my friend Jessie’s but she goes to Franklin, her parties are the best I’m tellin ya. And once again, heading to my house for, again, a slumber party, but possibly this time Kassidy, our other friend, may be coming over too. So my weekend is pretty busy as you can see. So Sunday, I plan on laundry, homework, and reruns of Halloween movies all, day, long.
